Szałwia lekarska w tradycyjnych i współczesnych zastosowaniach leczniczych

Abstrakt

Szałwia lekarska (Salvia officinalis L.) ma długą historię stosowania w kuchni i medycynie tradycyjnej. W Europie stosowana była w leczeniu łagodnej dyspepsji, nadmiernej potliwości, związanych z wiekiem zaburzeń poznawczych oraz stanów zapalnych gardła i skóry. Współczesne badania potwierdziły zasadność tradycyjnego użytkowania szałwii, a także ujawniły szeroki zakres działania farmakologicznego jej składników aktywnych, w tym działanie przeciw­rakowe, przeciwzapalne, przeciwnonyceptywne, przeciwutleniające, przeciwbakteryjne, przeciw­mutagenne, hipoglikemiczne i hipolipidemiczne. Aktywną grupę składników ziela szałwii stanowią: olejek eteryczny zawierający borneol, kamforę, kariofilen, 1,8-cyneol, elemen, humulen, pinen i α-i β-tujon, a także związki polifenolowe, w tym: kwasy fenolowe oraz flawonoidy oraz związki terpenowe.
