An independent reviewer outside the author’s place of work is appointed to assess each publication.
Concerning texts in a foreign language, a reviewer should be affiliated in an institution foreign to the author’s nationality.
The rule is observed that the author and the reviewer do not know each other’s identity (so-called double-blind process). The reviewer must sign a corresponding the reviewer’s statement. If the author’s identity is familiar to them, the latter declares no conflict of interests, stating that the following do not occur between the reviewer and the author: a) direct personal relationships (kinship, legal relations, conflict), b) relations of professional subordination, c) immediate scientific cooperation within the last two years preceding the preparation of the review.
The reviewer is obliged not to use the knowledge on the reviewed paper before its publication.
The review must have a written form and it must end with an explicit conclusion indicating whether the paper should be admitted or rejected for publication – reviewer’s form.
The author receives a review. He gives his written opinion on the reviewer's remarks.
The author is not to directly contact the reviewer. All contacts between the author and the reviewer take place exclusively through Wydawnictwo UP.
The list of reviewers is published once a year, in last issue and on the Internet website.
