Studies were conducted to determine the effect of composting with aeration on germination of weed seeds buried in farmyard manure. Seeds of 12 weed species were buried in farmyard manure composted with aeration and stored in anaerobic conditions. All tested weed species stored in composted manure lost germinability in the initial 4 days. Some seeds of Echinochloa crus-galli and Chenopodium album germinated after one month in anaerobically stored farmyard manure. Germination of Amaranthus retroflexus was promoted by anaerobical storage of farmyard manure. No seeds of Centaurea cyanus, Galinsoga parviflora, Galium aparine and Geranium pusillum germinated after initial 4 days in anaerobically stored manure.
