Abstrakt

The potential possibilities of potato crop planning are stated by specialists to be 75–80 t ha-1. However, potato cultivation on light soil of rye complex (exposed to many stressful factors which make accomplishment of physiological processes on the level of potential possibilities of this species impossible and as a result potato crop)1 does not exceed 20 t ha-1 in Poland. The underestimated factors enabling more effective exploitation of the production potential of this plant are its exogenous growth regulators which are rearely used. Growth and development regulation can be used in different stages of potato production and storage. This paper is a review of the own and other authors’ research, whose subject are effects obtained by the use of growth regulators in potato cultivation. It was shown that the active substances belonging to various groups of compounds affecting the metabolic processes in plants not only increase the crops but also modify their chemical composition and even the shape of bulbs in accordance with the processing industry requirements. During growth they immunize plants against low temperatures, drought and diseases. During bulb storage they prevent premature germination.
