The effect of chemical and biocontrol agents on the yield and healthiness of two winter wheat cultivars (Kobra, Zyta) was studied under field conditions in two successive years. The occurrence of the complex of pathogenic fungi causing wheat take-all was significantly higher in 2002, when the average temperature and precipitation was noticeably higher than in 2003. The average yield of cultivar Zyta was significantly higher than of Kobra, mainly due to a higher yield in 2003 under low disease pressure. The application of fungicide seed treatment Vitavax® 200FS and later spraying with Tango® 500SC resulted in a significant decrease of the average culm damage and the percentage of heavily damaged culms especially in 2002 and was correlated with the yield increase. The double application of biocontrol agent Pseudomonas flu orescens strain PSR21 as a seed treatment and later during the spring for spraying resulted with a noticeable decrease of the average degree of culm damage and the number of heavily damaged plants in 2002. However, the yield was not noticeably different in comparison with control plots.
