Effect of cultivar on the quantity and quality of the Hamburg parsley (Petroselinum crispum (Mill.) Nyman ex A. W. Hill var. tuberosum (Bernh.) Mart. Crov.) yield in the Lublin region. Part II. Yield of leaves

Abstract

The experiment carried out in 2004–2006 dealt with a comparison of the quantity and quality of the leaf yield of fifteen Hamburg parsley cultivars. The studied cultivars significantly differed with the length and weight of single plant leaves. Cultivars ‘Aroma’ and ‘Berlińska PNE’ were characterized by the longest, and ‘Hamburska’ by the shortest leaves. The highest leaves weight of a single plant was obtained from ‘Brandenburska’ and ‘Eagle’ cultivars. Leaves of the lowest weight were recorded for ‘Bubka’ cv. The highest total and marketable yields of leaves were obtained from ‘Berlińska PNE’ (21.9 and 17.6 t·ha–1 respectively) and ‘Alba’ (21.3 and 17.4 t·ha–1, respectively) cultivars. The lowest leaves yield – both total and marketable – was produced by ‘Omega’ (14.7 and 10.8 t·ha–1, respectively) and ‘Vistula’ (14.7 and 10.9 t·ha–1, respectively) cultivars. The share of the marketable yield in the total yield did not depend on the cultivar, but on weather conditions during cultivation.
