The effect of temperature and Pt(IV), Cd(II) and Pb(II) ions concentration on zinc ions desorption in mineral soils

Monika Bojanowska

Abstract

The present work gives results of the research on zinc ions activated in loess and loamy soils during a treatment with the solutions containing platinum ions. Soil samples were treated with solutions of platinum ions in the form of PtCl4 containing 20, 40, and 200 mg Pt(IV) dm-3 and with 100 mg Pb(II) dm-3 as Pb(NO3)2 and 50 mg Cd(II) dm-3 as CdCl2 and incubated at two temperature levels: 5 and 20°C in periods of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 months. In the filtrates zinc ions content was determined using a technique of ASA. The aim of the experiment was to study the influence of temperature and Pt(IV), Pb(II) and Cd(II) ions concentration on zinc ions desorption in the studied soils. On the basis of the results, it was stated that temperature and presence of Pb(II) or Cd(II) ions had no effect on zinc ions desorption in loess soil, whereas concentration of Pt(IV) ions had no effect on zinc ions desorption in loamy soil.
