Abstract

The aim of the work was to determine the influence of multi-annual air temperature changes on the course of dates of phenophases and duration of development stages of potato in Poland. The results of experiments of COBORU 30 stations from the years 1973–2002, concerning the dates of phenophases of standards of medium-early and medium-late potato, constituted material for the research. Average monthly air temperatures in the period from April to October were collected from meteorological stations at the COBORU or from the stations of IMGW. There occurred an increase in average air temperature in the whole growing season of potato in Poland, on average by +0.54oC/10 years, and in April, May, July and August, on average by +0.67oC/10 years, and +0.96oC/10 years. A acceleration of phenological dates of potato was observed, from about 1 to 4 days/10 years, and lengthening, by about 2–3 days/10 years, of the period from haulm drying to harvesting, and shortening, by about 1–2 days/10 years, of the periods from emergence to flowering of medium-late potato and from haulm drying to harvesting of medium-early potato. Changes of the dates of the flowering and emergence, too, were correlated with the course of air temperature.
