The results come from a precise, static field experiment conducted from 1994 to 2004 in Bałcyny near Ostróda. With regard to thermal characterization, mean temperatures in the sugar beet vegetation months, as well as trends in the changes were calculated. Rainfall conditions were analyzed according to their distribution in time and space. A statistic analysis of crops was conducted, making use of variation analysis for the data obtained each year. The coefficient of yielding variability over the years was calculated. The period under analysis proved favorable to sugar beet cultivation, despite the high variability of climate conditions as well as rain distribution and intensity. As regards thermal conditions, the harsh region of north-eastern Poland proved favourable for the production of a high sugar beet yield.
