The aim of the research was to assess the herbicidal effectiveness of selected herbicides used in spring barley, variety Poldek. The experiment was carried out in 2012–2014. The following herbicide combinations were used in the experiment: control (without herbicide application), Pike 20 WG (metsulfuron-methyl), Aurora 40 WG (carfentrazone ethyl), Tayson 464 SL + Pike 20 WG (2,4-D + dicamba + metsulfuron-methyl), Pike 20 WG + Aurora 40 WG (metsulfuron-methyl + carfentrazone ethyl), Galmet 20 SG + Galaper 200 EC (metsulfuron-methyl + fluroxypyr), Granstar Ultra SX 50 WG (thifensulfuron methyl + tribenuron methyl). The evaluation of the effectiveness of the control of the most abundant species of weeds was carried out 30 days after the application of the preparations using the estimation method. Additionally, two weeks before the barley harvest, secondary weed infestation was assessed using the botanical-weight method, determining the floristic composition, the number of individual species and the air dry weight of weeds. The dominant species in barley cultivation were: Galinsoga parviflora, Polygonum lapathifolium subsp. lapathifolium, Galium aparine, Matricaria maritima subsp. inodora, Chenopodium album, and Stellaria media. The herbicide combinations Tayson 464 SL + Pike 20 WG and Pike 20 WG + Aurora 40 WG, Galmet 20 SG + Galaper 200 EC were the most effective against weeds dominating in barley. The highest yield of barley grain was also obtained with the application of these herbicide combinations.
