Abstract

The aim of the research was to establish the reaction of maize medium early hybrids on the phosphate of ammonium fertilization method. 10 hybrids were used in the research, all the breeding of foreign seminal firms. Two methods of fertilization were applied: broadcasting and in rows, simultaneously with sowing of seeds (starter fertilization). The applied methods of fertilization did not differentiate the vigour of the initial growth of the plants and yield of grain in the studied maize hybrids. Starter fertilization reduced the content of water in grain during harvest in 4 from 10 studied hybrids. The reduction of moisture of grain with the remaining hybrids was insignificant. Average for years and hybrids, the starter fertilization increased the dry mass of plants' overground parts in 6–7 leaves phase and the yield of maize grain as well as reduced the moisture of grain, in comparison to traditional broadcast fertilization.
