Abstract

The presence of yeast-like fungi is often detected as a source of disturbances in human and animal health problems. Yeast-like fungi create an important problem in the therapy of dermatological and systemic diseases. The aim of the study was identification of  yeast-like fungi on the skin of dogs held in house conditions as a source of potential pathogens for people. The research material were swabs taken from 74 dogs. The samples were taken from the  mucous membrane of the oral cavity, the external auditory channel, the interdigital space, the rectum and the prepuce or the vagina vestibule. Identification of insulators was based on their biochemical profile. The study showed that the presence of yeast-like fungi in the skin is the physiological state and their presence is not synonymous to health disorders of animals.
