The aim of this study was to measure the parameters of the activity of the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems as well as the balance of the autonomic system in the context of selected indicators of horse racing performance. The study included 20 three-year-old purebred Arabians that underwent racing training. The activity of the autonomic system was measured with a Polar RS800CX device. The obtained data were analyzed in the PolarProTraine 5.0 software. The evaluation of racing performance was based on the analysis of the following indicators: total winnings, total winnings per one start, general handicap. It has been shown that the increased activity of the sympathetic system of young Arabian horses during racing training indicates their considerable emotional burden. The mares are characterized by worse results in this respect, so in their case it is worth discussing the possibility of shortening the racing season or limiting the maximum number of starts per year.
