Abstrakt

The objective of the paper is to evaluate the content of copper, zinc and manganese in sward of wet meadows against the background of some properties of carbonate organic soils in river valleys of Kotlina Zamojska. During phytosociological research, conducted in 1996–1997 on water-logged meadows in the valleys of Łabunka, Wieprz and Łetownia rivers, 46 collective samples of soil from the level of 5–15 cm, as well as 46 samples of sward, were taken prior to the first swath harvest. pH, organic matter, CaCO3, forms of phosphorus potassium and magnesium soluble in 0.5 mol HCl as well as total contents of copper, manganese and zinc, were determined in the soil, while the content of Cu, Zn and Mn was determined in the sward. The results were analyzed statistically. Coefficient of variation was established in reference to soil and sward properties. The sward of the tested meadows contained numerous careces and herbs, while papilionaceous and grasses were scarce. Organic soils in the valleys were characterized by neutral pH and a high content of CaCO3. Abundance of P and Mg was medium or high, the content of K was low, whereas Cu, Zn and Mn varied. The content of Zn and Cu in meadow sward was at a low level, while that of Mn was high. A negative relationship was found to occur in the soil – sward system: between pH, organic matter and K content in the soil and the Cu content in sward, and a positive one – between K and Cu in soil and Mn in the sward. No statistical correlation could be found between the analyzed soil properties and zinc content in sward.
