Abstract

In 2000–2002 a micro-plot experiment was conducted to study the effect of intercropping with lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) on yielding traits, yield and quality of spring triticale and hull-less oats depending on rates and sowing dates. The reason for the studies was a three-year
micro-plot experiment during the growth of leguminous crop. The experiment was conducted as randomized blocks in three replications. Two factors were included in the experiment: I – the type of sowing of spring triticale and hull-lessoats: a) sole crop (1:0); b) intercropping with lentil 150 plants/m2 c) intercropping with lentil 300 plants/m2, II – the date of sowing a) the first 10 days’ period of April; b) the second 10 days’ period of April. The aim of the experiment was estimation of the response of hull-less oats and spring triticale growth intercropping with lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) with varing sowing rate of lentil and varying sowing dates of plants. A delayed date of sowing of hull-less oats from the first to the second decade of April significantly decreased the yield by 21.8%. Significant decrease of effective tillering and efficiency of a single plant caused lower yields of oats. The yield of spring triticale sown in the first decade of April was significantly higher by 19.4% compared with the yields from a later date of sowing. Plants of triticale from the second 10 days’ period of April were characterized by higher productive tillering and higher weight of grain from one plant.
