Abstract

This paper presents analyses of the changes in the numbers and species composition of flora in the 9th year of arable land lying with on rendzina. The research object is located in Bezek, in eastern Lublin region. Annually, beginning from 1995, the state of phytocenosis on the idle land is estimated by phytosociological records method. The quantities of each plant species in records is stated by 5-degree Braun-Blanquet scale. The conducted research showed that phytocenosis composition on a nine-year fallow is considerably richer than on arable land before the resting time. The perennial species play a decisive role in the plant communities on the fallow land. They successively supplant the therophytes. The predominat species on the idle land is Elymus repens. The plant succession on the fallow land caused the increase in the number of species typical of brushwood habitat, which lets us think that this habitat will be replaced by brushwood in the future.
