The aim of this study was to analyze the resources of the forest sector in Poland in comparison to the European Union. In the study Perkal’s multi-criteria method was used. Synthe- tic resource assessment was made based on a set of selected diagnostic features. The main source of statistical data was the Central Statistical Office. The presented method showed significant differences in the analyzed resources in the countries of the European Union. The countries with the most developed forest sector are Slovenia, Finland and the Czech Republic. The state of forestry in Denmark, Ireland and Portugal is unfavourable. Poland in comparison with other European Union countries has a very good state of the forest sector.
