Abstract

The influence of different methods of nitrogen application on yelding, yield components structure and grain quality characteristics of spring wheat cultivars was examined in field experiments conducted in the years 1996–1998. It was found that the methods of N application did not significantly influence the growth and development of spring wheat cultivars during plants vegetation. The weather conditions had a bigger influence on spring wheat cultivars yield and quality characteristics than nitrogen fertilization. The better yielding of Banti and Igna varieties was connected with number of heads in the 1996–1997 years. The better yelding of Igna varieties was caused by higher values of some yield structure components, especially grain yield from head and grain number per head.
