In years 1999–2001 in a field experiment the meadow sward reactions to fertilization with urea solutions of 20, 30 and 40% concentrations were studied in reference to fertilization with ammonium nitrate in the solid form. The investigations were conducted in the aspect of estimation of the efficiency of nitrogen fertilization of meadow sward. The obtained results show that increasing doses of nitrogen significantly increased the nitrogen uptake with the yield of plants. The majority of this component, the mean calculated during the research period, was taken by the sward fertilized with a 40% solution of the urea. Agricultural and physiological nitrogen fertilization efficiency of sward significantly decreased with the growth of nitrogen dose. Moreover, higher agricultural efficiency and lower physiological efficiency was obtained using a liquid form of fertilizer application. Nitrogen doses applied in the research did not cause significant changes in nitrogen utilization from fertilizers. The utilization of nitrogen with urea solutions was larger by 8.1% than with ammonium nitrate.
