Studies on the yielding of Polish varieties of amaranthus in conditions of diversified NPK fertilization were carried out in the years 2005–2006 on brown soil made from loess. The experiment included: two varieties of amaranthus grown for seeds – Rawa and Aztec, and two increasing levels of fertilization with macroelements (0 – object of control; , 1 – 90 kg N∙ha-1, 26,2 kg P∙ha-1, 49,8 kg K∙ha-1; 2 – 130 kg N∙ha-1, 30,5 kg P∙ha-1, 58,1 kg K∙ha-1). The experiment reveals, that Aztec variety of amaranthus grew significantly higher, and had larger yield of aboveground biomass and seed biomass than Rawa variety. Both varieties of amaranthus reacted with a remarkable increase of the investigated parameters to the increasing dosages of fertilization with macroelements. An especially large yield of aboveground biomass was obtained at the high level of NPK fertilization.
