Abstrakt

The paper presents the economic effectiveness of early potatoes (cv. Aster) grown under management schemes that differed for covers to be used (polyethylene sheeting, polypropylene agrotextile), weed management method, tuber harvest date, (60 and 75 days after planting, and at full maturity). Field trials were run at the Experiment Station at Parczew, on a soil classified as good rye complex. The best economic indicators were obtained when the potatoes were harvested 60 days after planting. The profitability was increased by the use of covers (only with the first harvest date) and by combined mechanical and chemical weed control (with all harvest dates). The highest economic performance was shown by the management scheme involving agrotextile cover and combined mechanical and chemical weed control involving the application of Afalon 50 WP + Command 480 EC (1 kg + 0.2 dm3 ha-1) and harvest on the 60th day after planting. With later harvest dates (75 days after planting and at full tuber maturity) the management scheme involving no cover and the application of Afalon 50 WP + Command 480 EC was economically the most effective.
