The aim of the research was to define the influence of both sowing density and agricultural level on the canopy structure and the yield of spring wheat cultivated in loessial soil conditions of Central Lubelszczyzna region. The field experiment was conducted from 2000 to 2002. Two factors were taken into consideration: I. The sowing norm (the number of epigeal grains per 1 m2) 350, 450 and 550; II. The level of agrotechnical practices – standard and intensive. It was proved that the higher density sowing of spring wheat (550 kernels per 1 m2) had a positive effect on the emergences and amount of spring wheat. Subsequently, it led to a considerable increase in the grain yield of the cereal plant. The spring wheat canopies were differentiated by their height. The increased density of sowing led to the decreased frequency of the highest plants in the canopy. The canopy was characterised by high productivity of ears and the highest frequency in grain yield formation. Intensive agricultural level increased the proliferacy of spring wheat ears belonging to all levels of canopy height.
