The aim of the study was the impact of the selected silvicultural tending on the slenderness coefficient and stability of pine stands of younger age class. Four stands were examined in the initial stage of the pole wood phase. The first of them was neglected in terms of care. The second was before the early thinning treatment and after the late cleanings. In the next two early thinnings were performed. In each of the four stands, sample plots were established in which the height and diameter of breast height of trees were measured. The tree density in stands was determined, their height and their diameter of breast height were measured and mean slenderness coefficient was calculated. It was found that the silvicultural tending influences the stability of pine stands. The higher the tree density, and the stand more neglected in terms of care, the lower was the stability of the stands. It was also found that less frequent but intensive cuts increase the risk of damage to forest stands by snow and wind. In the Scots pine stands it is better to carry out less intensive but more frequent silvicultural tending. This breeding approach does not reduce the stability of the utilization stands.
