The paper presents the results of research the Lubelskie province rural local governments in terms of their competitiveness level by the use taxonomic methods. The first stage of the research was performed with the use of Hellwig’s development model method. It was aimed at classifying individual rural communes and assigning them to one of the four groups in terms of their level of competitiveness. Synthetic index for all rural communes were formed on the base of statistical data collected by the Regional Data Bank. The next stage was check how change the level of competitiveness of the examined units before 2006 and 2017.
