The management of the champignon substrate created after the production requires constant testing of the chemical composition and sanitary conditions. To eliminate the unfavourable microflora from the bedding substrate, it is sometimes subjected to a thermal treatment. The aim of the study was to analyse the effectiveness of thermal treatments, which underwent a post-cultivation substrate in terms of microbiological quality. The research material consisted of the substrates before and after thermal disinfection. The analysis covered the following parameters: total number of bacteria, total number of fungi, coli bacteria, anaerobes of the genus Clostridium and the presence of Salmonella rods. Preliminary studies indicate that the use of thermal disinfection at the end of the mushroom production cycle is a very safe procedure and should be a standard in the production process.
