The aim of this study was to estimate the influence of chemical plant protection including the use of herbicide Lintur 70 WG or a mixture of Lintur 70 WG and Chwastox Extra 300 SL on the leaf area index (LAI) and the mean tip angle (MTA) of husked (Breton cultivar) and naked (Polar cultivar) oat in conditions of foliar fertilization by means of Insol 3 and FoliCare 18:18:18. The field experiment was curried out in 2010–2012 on rendzina soil. The LAI and MTA indexes were evaluated three times in a canopy of oat (BBCH 32–34; 55–59; 77–88) by means of LAI-2000 meter, firm LI-COR (USA). During the phase of shooting and heading a significantly higher leaf area index was shown by husked oat while at the stage of milky-wax maturity higher LAI index was observed in the canopy of naked oat. Chemical plant protection significantly decreased LAI index at the phase of shooting and increased the mean tip angle of oat during the phases of heading and milky-wax maturity. At the shooting and heading stages the LAI index was significantly higher than in the control without fertilizers in the objects where foliar fertilizers Insol 3 and FoliCare 18:18:18 were used.
