Abstract
The paper presents results of the evaluation of yielding, yield structure elements, and some qualitative parameters for 3 winter wheat species: Triticum durum Desf., Triticum aestivum ssp. spelta, and Triticum aestivum ssp. vulgare cultivated under climatic and soil conditions in the Lublin region. The field experiment was carried out in 2005–2007 in The Experimental Farm Felin, University of Agriculture, Lublin. The study included: 4 spelt wheat lines (STH 3, 5, 8, 715), 3 durum wheat lines (STH 716, 717, 725), and 1 variety of common wheat (Tonacja). Among the compared species, common wheat yielded the best; lines of spelt wheat yielded by 18.7% lower, and durum wheat lines by 32.7%. A higher yield of common than spelt and durum wheat was determined mainly by: higher ear density, number and weight of grains per ear. Durum wheat was distinguished by the best grain vitreosity and 1000-grain weight. Spelt lines, in general, showed moderate or lower values of the majority of traits.
