Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the yield and chemical composition of radish roots grown in a non-heated greenhouse during the early spring period. The nitrogen dose (0,3; 0,6 and 0,9 g · dm-3) and the kind of potassium fertilizer (K2SO4 i KCl) were the studied factors. The plants of two Polish radish cultivars: Carmen and Śnieżka were the research material. The weight and yield of radish Carmen cv. roots decreased under the nitrogen fertilization applied in larger doses. The yield of Śnieżka cv. roots significantly increased under the application of high nitrogen doses. Increasing the nitrogen dose did not result in a significant influence on the N-NO3 accumulation in the roots of the studied radish cultivars. The kind of potassium fertilizer did not affect the features of the discussed radish plants, except for N-NO3 accumulation by Śnieżka cv. plants. In this case, potassium sulphate application was more profitable than the application of potassium chloride, which was due to a lower concentration of nitrates in roots.
