The aim of the study was to compare the results and behavior of breeding sows fed and kept during the gestation period in individual or in group systems. The observations were performed on crossbreed sows of Polish Landrace and Naїma (♀ Polish Landrace × ♂ Naїma). Maternal features of sows were determined by the value of selected indicators of productivity and by using etogram in which the following categories were distinguished: arrangement of sows, feeding behavior, excretory behaviour, exploration. As is evident from the observations, the sows that were kept in the individual system in gestation were under the effect of fewer stressors than the group kept individually, which differences were statistically significant. This was reflected in more positive indicators of reproductivity.
